Shore Fest Sundays


Astoria Park Alliance



Help us make Shore Fest 2015 the 

best one yet!

Join us on Shore Blvd. this Sunday and next.  Please share with your friends and neighbors- Let's have some fun.   
Activities include Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, dance performances, dance, Ukulele and Taekwondo lessons, a photoscavenger hunt and much more.   There will be great live music performances throughout the day.  NYC Parks Playmobile will be there!  Plus there will be bike lessons and a helmet giveaway.  
Bring your scooter to participate in the scooter race, bring your cell phone to participate in the photo scavenger hunt, bring your picnics, your loved ones, and just hang out by the water.

Zumba   Francesca Santangelo will warm you up with a booty shaking Zumba class.  Meet on Shore Blvd below the Great Lawn at 1pm.  
Dance Lessons    Audrey Martinez will teach you and your partner how to look awesome on the dance floor.  Meet on Shore Blvd below the Great Lawn at 2pm. 
Yoga   Enjoy the lovely sunset and take a Yoga class courtesy of LatticeWorks Dance Collective.  Be sure to bring your own mat.  Meet on the Great lawn at 5pm.

Pilates    There will also be a Pilates demonstration and class near the War Memorial from 3-5pm provided by Gina
 from Zend Avesta Pilates.
Healing Arts
Returning again this year for 2 consecutive weekends is Healing Arts practitioner Luz Milagros of Luz Milagros Healing Arts. On Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 5-7pm she will hold space for a Community Healing Circle welcoming in (a little early the fall Equinox). Participants from the community are asked to bring a rattle or drum, if they own one, a yoga mat or blanket to rest on during journey work. If possible bring an offering of organic goodies for the park's elemental spirits or to share with each other. Examples: Fruit, nuts, veggies, veggie chips, etc. Luz Milagros is a practitioner of Reiki, Mayan, and Peruvian medicine disciplines. She offers energy healing, clearings and spiritual  counsel. More info can be found about her work on her website: www.luzmilagroshealingarts.com

Learn to Ride

Learn to Ride—Kids is a free group class for children who are ready to ditch their training wheels and pedal a two-wheeler for the first time. With our safe, easy, effective method and experienced instructors, kids will learn how to balance, pedal, start, stop, and steer a bicycle.  Join us on Shore Blvd near the Basketball court from 2-4pm on September 20 and 27.

Bikes and helmets are NOT provided at these Kids classes (unless otherwise noted).
Be sure to register soon, as class size is limited.

Upcoming Volunteer Days

Shoreline Cleanups

Saturday September 26th, 3-5pm 

We will be partnering with Green Shores NYC to give the shoreline along Astoria Park some TLC!  This is your opportunity to hop over the wall and cleanup your shore.  
We will meet South of the War Memorial before heading to the work area(s).
Astoria Park Alliance will provide gloves and all necessary equipment. Please arrive comfortably, in clothing suitable for outdoor work (sturdy closed toe shoes). Bring water, stay hydrated!
